“May, May” is all I could hear him yell through the door as I continued to dial the police so I paused. What does the month of May have to do with this strange interaction.

“Sir, I’m really sorry that I don’t understand your concerns. The police are on the way.” Then a look of despair came across his face as he mouthed “I only need help until May.” as clear as I could hear.

I continue to give a brief description of this young fellow and the reason for my call. As we wrap, I let the call attendant know that I would continue to speak with the young gentleman through my door, provided them with my address then hung up.

In my condition, I could not allow him in my home, let alone any other strange person but was thankful that an Officer was in route to my address. This incident is and always will be one of the most bizarre incident that I have experienced.

“Again, I am really sorry that I cannot help you and although, I cannot quite place how I know you or even which misrepresentation of my previous acts you may have been told — I am in no position to help you. I cannot even allow my own family in my space.” I say.

He just continues to look as if I had destroyed all of his hopes and dreams but the truth of the matter is that I barely knew him and I had just been diagnosed with a rare disorder, and have to maintain a space clear of all allergens and foreign matter.

The police finally arrive and it appears to dissolve rather quickly. As he stood there at my door with his phone in hand. I mouth “Thank You” to the Officer and apologize for any inconvenience or disturbance that I may have created. He leaves his card outside the door before leaving.

I just wished people were more considerate of what they may not know lies behind a closed door.
