“I find it very hard to be 100% spiritual in a (60% or higher) racist state”, I found myself mouthing recently as I encountered another racially intense situation in 24–48 hours. It was probably the third or fourth situation I found myself in where I was spending my money or earning money.

Although, I try to voice my concerns openly here so I don’t implode, I think yesterday took a toll on me. I will spare the details, in addition to leaving some areas on a “need-to-know” basis but we are living in a world where most people find comfort in using their “privilege” at the wrong time.

The sad part is that so many people have been using their privilege to uphold their inconveniencing or costly decisions. How do you continue to make the right decisions when everyone feels entitled to override your rights with their own? How do you quote scripture and try to maintain your composure when you’re being accused of things out of your control?

To be honest, it isn’t easy. To be quite frank, I have had to pray and meditate and let a few “f-bombs” loose because it’s not possible to be something that you’re not in a world that is filled with people determined to destroy your credibility, livelihood and maybe even you.
