Are You Reliving Someone Else’s Past?

Recently, I had a realization that no matter where your life takes you, there will always be that one person or set of people who cannot and will not move beyond the past. From “He said, she said” to “that’s my man” to even “I know they have some money to let me hold”, you never know what a person may be holding against you years beyond its expiration date.

I have committed to living a more peaceful, conflict free life so I have devised a plan to clear out the drama and it’s as simple as gauging where the relationships stand in my current reality. Say, we haven’t been friends or the other party has made it clear that we aren’t friends but they have nothing but animosity and negative energy towards me then I don’t have a reason to engage.

In this life you have options. To be honest, there are so many options that there is no sane reason to continue to cling to one or two or ten people for not being who you expected them to be. This is just a friendly reminder to let go and release all of your expectations of others because truthfully, people do not have to be who you expect them to be or even, bait them into being. We all have the option to either grow or remain the same every day. You just can’t make someone remain in a past that no longer exists.
